Diagnostic Assessment

A diagnostic assessment is a structured clinical process designed to help you understand the difficulties or patterns you are experiencing. It may confirm whether the criteria for a particular condition are met, or explain recurring cognitive, emotional, behavioural and interpersonal patterns, including how you relate to others and how you understand and regulate your own internal experience.

Areas of assessment:

Autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Personality

Personality functioning and personality disorders

ADHD

Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Upon request, a diagnostic report can be prepared and formally reviewed and validated by a registered psychologist or psychiatrist.

My approach follows a biopsychosocial model. This means that your current functioning is understood in the context of interacting biological, psychological and social factors, not through symptoms or test scores alone.

Depending on the purpose of the assessment, we may consider your developmental history, physical and mental health, cognitive and emotional patterns, relationships, social environment, significant life experiences and sources of stress or support. Attachment experiences may also be explored where they are relevant to understanding how patterns of safety, trust, emotional regulation and relationships have developed.
